By making use of theatrical resources, and hybridizing languages, “El Rey” is “a work of fiction about ignorance”. A wake-up call on the culture of Spain’s “transition” (from dictatorship to democracy) that some may find uncomfortable, because of its brutally honest account of Spain’s recent history.
